Thomas Davies
Thomas was born in 1834 at Dilwyn, Herefordshire. He was baptised at the parish church on 23 November 1834. He was the eldest of five children born to Francis Davies and Eliza Cheese. Thomas married Ann Davies on 7th November 1853 at Dilwyn. They had three sons, George, William and John. Thomas worked as an agricultural labourer and appears on the 1841, 1851 and 1861 censuses.
Ann Davies
Ann Davies was born in 1834 at Kings Pyon, Herefordshire. She was baptised at the parish church on 26th January 1834. Ann was the eldest daughter of William Davies and Elizabeth Haynes. Ann married Thomas Davies on 7th November 1853 at Dilwyn, Herefordshire. They had three sons, George, William and John.
John Shea
John Shea was born in County Kerry, Ireland, somewhere near Killarney, in 1824. He came over to England during the early 1850’s, probably because of the Great Potato Famine that occurred between 1845 and 1852. He was a widow when he married Margaret Donovan in Bath. His first wife was Honora Sullivan. John and Margaret around 10 children. There may be more but I can only document 10 at the moment by either birth registrations, baptisms or census returns. John and Margaret travelled around Hereford and Worcester, working in the hop fields. You can find more about John and Margaret here!
Margaret Donovan
Margaret Donovan was born around 1828 in Waterford, Ireland, the daughter of John Donovan and Julian Carroll. She married John Shea in 1857 in Bath, England. At the time of their marriage, John was a widow, Margaret was a spinster.
